I. Job Summary 
The Associate Estimator will work with the preconstruction teams to review project plans, requirements and specifications. This role will perform take-offs, pricing and bidding of construction projects while adhering to WM's standards. Executes simultaneous tasks within broadly defined parameters. 
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Participate in project development activities including scope definition and clarification, preconstruction planning, attend pre-bid meetings within the US, and control estimate development and delivery 

Provide preconstruction services including the preparation of preliminary budgets, cost plans, and value engineering opportunities 

Attend Prebid meetings and site walks 

Coordinate preparation and performance of full detailed quantity takeoff estimates, data entry into estimating software and identifying inherent risk and opportunities 

Soliciting information from subcontractors and suppliers and analyzing subcontractor requirements 

Assisting in project planning and scheduling 

Performs tasks (takeoffs vendor/pricing searches) assigned by Project/Sr. Estimators and engineers 

Drafts estimate plans for projects (inclusive of estimate budget) through evaluation of scope, contract, desired estimate type quality and time resources available 

III. Supervisory Responsibilities 
Not normally required to supervise others. 

IV. Qualifications 
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. 

A. Education and Experience 

Education: Bachelor's degree (accredited) in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance or related studies, or in lieu of a degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience. 

Experience: 3-5 years of experience preferred. 

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements 

None required. 

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required 

MS Office familiarity 

General computer acumen and ability to learn to utilize other job-related technical software. 

Familiarity with statistical methods. 

Research skills

Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day;

Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements a portion of the work day or week; 

Normal setting for this job is an office setting and construction sites.
