Willdan Engineering has current opening for a full-time ICC Certified Project Manager with Municipality experience in the Phoenix, AZ area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manages typical building and safety plan review, inspection and counter technician staff.
• Responsible for management of building and safety projects, including client liaison, agency coordination, scheduling and budget.
• Maintains liaison with individuals an other departments with the responsibility for acting independently on technical matters.
• Makes presentations before clients, city councils, boards, and commissions.
• Assists in the training of inspectors, plans examiners, and counter technicians.
• Attends various ICC Chapter meetings to promote Willdan services.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contracted in the course work.
• Examines plans and specifications of new construction, additions and alterations to residential and commercial buildings to determine compliance with the provisions of applicable city, state, and federal constructions codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
• Inspect existing buildings and premises for change of use, occupancy, or compliance.
• Maintains files, records, and reports regarding inspections and plan check activities and findings.
• Confer with and provide information and assistance to architects, engineers, contractors, builders, and the general public in the field and office; explain and interpret applicable codes, ordinances, and zoning regulations.
• Attend and participate in meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of building inspections and plans examination, applicable codes and ordinances.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5-10 years related experience and/or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
• ICC Building Official Cert.
• Municipal building department management experience.
• Municipality experience.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
• Ability to perform building inspections and plans examining work to enforce compliance with building codes, regulations and ordinances.
