Job Summary:
The Sr. Manager, Tax is responsible for all company income tax related work. This position identifies and recommends income tax strategies for the company to maximize profitability while minimizing income tax liability.The Sr. Manager, Tax directs the work of the Company’s outside tax specialists and works closely with the company’s outside financial auditors to ensure compliance with Federal and State tax regulations as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).In addition to income tax accounting, the Sr. Manager, Tax is responsible for property tax and sales tax filings.
The Sr. Manager, Tax oversees the management of the fixed asset accounting team and works with the manager of Fixed Asset Accounting to ensure the capitalization policy is adhered to, recommending policy changes as necessary.The position oversees related accounting duties, including fixed assets, depreciation, and tax and license accounting.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
•Manage all corporate matters relating to income tax, property tax, sales and use tax, and other tax filings as needed.
•Manage and collaborate in the preparation of the corporate consolidated federal and state income tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payments, and extensions.
•Prepare corporate consolidated income tax provision, including accounting for permanent differences and deferred taxes.
•Manage the completion of government filings, including sales and use taxes, business property statements, and related filings.
•Responds to audits of federal and state tax returns, property tax returns and sales and use tax returns; prepares documents and information associated the property tax appeals process.
•Manage external financial audit of the consolidated tax provision and related tax accounts, and assists with preparation of related financial statement disclosures for taxation.
•Research and advise management on the tax implications of proposed real estate transactions and other projects.
•Collaborate with human resources and manage assigned team members, to include hiring, training, coaching, counseling, performance appraisals, discipline and termination, in conjunction with company policies and procedures.
•Ensures timely and accurate completion for quarter close accounting functions, including fixed asset, prepaid expense, real and personal property tax, etc.
