We are currently recruiting for the position of:
Sr. Director of Design, Construction & Facilities - Modesto, CA
Summary :

The Sr. Director, Design, Construction & Facilities provides leadership and end-to-end project management for all construction projects, including new store construction, remodels, repair & maintenance, and other proposed construction projects. This position directs and manages subcontractors, suppliers, and works with internal staff to ensure that materials, labor, and supplies are provided for assigned construction projects in a timely manner and within budget. This position determines necessary resources for projects within budget and calculates estimated costs in alignment with the Executive Staff and Leadership Team expectations.

This position directs all projects in a manner consistent with safety, profitability, timeliness, quality, and integrity standards. The role is responsible for the performance, fiscal accountability, coordination and/or oversight of maintenance, repair activities, and janitorial for multiple commercial retail locations, Supply Chain facilities, warehouses, and Corporate sites, to ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained at all operational, safety, ADA, and sanitation standards. The Sr. Director is responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of the store property, interior and exterior, and the development, execution and follow-through of the work order system.
Responsibilities:
  • Business development, including contracts, proposals, presentations, and negotiations
  • Conduct pre-construction reviews, to include preparing estimates and contract documents
  • Develop purchasing strategies, project flow charts and schedules
  • Direct outside vendors and contractors, including engagement with municipalities and other regulatory agencies
  • Review and monitor human capital, equipment, and material resources for successful completion of projects
  • Manage the development of the overall CPM schedule
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and conducts regular team progress meetings
  • Complete close-out requirements and punch lists in a timely manner
  • Manage all billing to ensure timely submission payment applications
  • Manage team members in the day-to-day performance of their jobs and in their career development
  • Plan, order, and schedule materials and tools for project tasks
  • Use accepted and approved policies and practices in recommending and making buying decisions
  • Responsible for supplier selection, negotiating, developing and maintaining entrusted supplier relationships supplier performance management
  • Oversight of repair estimates; approves payment of service invoices
  • Direct scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of vendors on special projects
  • Direct day-today operations of maintenance and janitorial contracts and ensure all required repairs and maintenance are performed
  • Provide oversight and ensure all required repairs and maintenance are performed on all equipment and assets as scheduled or requested (i.e., HVAC, plumbing and electrical repairs, replacements, etc.)
  • Other tasks as assigned
Hiring pay range: $182,107.00 - 213,657.00
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of managing construction projects, contract documents, materials, equipment utilization, scheduling systems, productivity analysis, construction operations, and cash flow procedures
  • Basic knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems
  • Strong verbal, written and listening skills; communicates clearly and directly; approachable and relates well to others; engages people and helps them understand change, and provides and seeks feedback
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills
  • Ability to manage others and demonstrate follow-through to achieve desired results and objectives
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Excellent knowledge of department processes
  • Ability to manage and ensure project/department milestones and goals are met, adhering to approved budgets
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; embraces a multi-functional approach to addressing problems
Experience: 12 years Directly related experience, 10 years Management, Supervisory and/or leadership experience

Education: 4 year/Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent experience, training

Other: Travel required
