About the organization

West Sixth Brewing is a craft brewery and taproom located in downtown Lexington, KY. We focus on producing the highest quality, fresh, delicious craft beer, and sharing it with others by distributing it to other restaurants and bars in the Central Kentucky area. We were the first brewery to can its beer in Kentucky, and distribute flagship and seasonal beers to stores throughout the Commonwealth and across the river in Cincinnati, OH. Finally, we also operate a taproom at our production facility, located in the Bread Box at 501 West Sixth Street; our Louisville taproom in NuLu; and our West Sixth Farm location in Franklin County.

We also believe that businesses should be measured not only by their financial success but also by the good they do for their community. That’s why, in every decision we make, we weigh not only how it will affect the business but also how it can better the community that we live in. From our choices to focus on green design inside the taproom, to our selection of cans for distributing out beer, to our commitment to give 6% of all net profits back to other community organizations, we try to live our values in every decision we make.

About the Position

Lexington and Frankfort Full-time Bartender (30-40 hours/week)

A key part of our business, our taproom is often the first place that people experience West Sixth Brewing and our beers. Because of this, we truly believe that the experience must be fantastic -- from the service they receive, to the beers they drink, to the space they drink it in. The Lexington taproom is a special place: where it all began! We're looking for a hard-working person with a great attitude to help us continue to make this place one of the best spaces in the state to drink craft beer. This position also necessitates the ability to work shifts at our Farm location outside of Frankfort 1-2 days/week. 

Bartenders will be responsible for providing excellent service to customers in the taprooms, representing our company in a positive manner and helping to grow West Sixth as our first point of contact for most customers.

Day to day activities 

• Providing excellent service to customers while showcasing an extensive knowledge of our products and brand
• Working behind the bar during both typical day-to-day service as well as for private events in our event space
• Cleaning and maintaining glassware and work space 
• Fulfilling opening and closing duties, as needed
• Maintaining communication (in person and digital via slack/email, etc) with Retail Manager and other co-workers, and staying up to date on events and info necessary to provide excellent service in the Taproom
• Give tours of the building upon request, in addition to scheduled official tours

All bartenders will report to the Retail Manager.
