Designer
JOB SUMMARY
Are you ready to unleash your creativity in a dynamic environment? As a Designer at Weissman, you'll collaborate with a Senior Designer and work closely with cross-functional teams to create designs that not only meet commercial objectives but exceed them. From maintaining high sketch selection rates to delving into market research at dance events, your role will be as creative as it is exciting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to overall Design plan and category direction to drive sales and margin targets.
Create detailed technical sketches, spec sheets, and BOM’s ensuring accurate fit and construction.
Collaborate with technical designers to ensure development packages are accurate.
Participate in fittings and handoff meetings with PD & Tech.
Ensure projects are delivered on time and align with the product development calendar.
Stay ahead of the curve by incorporating fabric, trim, and market trends into your designs, ensuring they're both aesthetically and commercially viable.
Dive deep into global and domestic markets to identify emerging trends and techniques, influencing our product assortment and maintaining our brand's competitive edge.
Mentor and guide our design team members, helping them unlock their full potential and enhancing their technical capabilities.
Drive sales performance through meticulous analysis of data and competitor offerings, ensuring we stay ahead of the curve in an ever-evolving industry.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design or related field, coupled with 5 to 7 years of professional experience. Background in activewear or dancewear is preferred.
A keen eye for fashion and color and a demonstrated ability to generate highly creative concepts.
Strong understanding and alignment with the aesthetic related to the Weissman brands and customer base.
Comprehensive knowledge of garment construction, fit, finishes, and industry resources.
Managing and mentoring experience.
Strong work ethic with the capability to work and design independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and value time efficiency.
Experience with the Product Development Process, including the ability to guide a design from concept through commercialization.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative team environment, with flexibility and adaptability to change.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically.
