Warner Pacific University is Hiring a Human Resource Generalist Near Portland, OR

The Human Resource Generalist is a full-time, benefit eligible position reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources (VPHR). This position provides HR support in the following areas: recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits administration, policy implementation, training, performance management, employment law compliance, surveys, data analytics, reporting, HR administrative tasks, investigations, and employee exits.Primary Job Duties:
  • Manages the recruitment process for staff and faculty positions.
  • Develops recruitment strategies to support organizational staffing objectives and generate diverse candidate pools.
  • Utilizes cutting-edge recruitment technologies and methodologies to provide a competitive advantage in sourcing and attracting outstanding talent.
  • Creates and manages job postings; coordinates with manager to ensure job descriptions are updated.
  • Collaborates with managers to screen candidate applications.
  • Manages the on-line application system.
  • Responsible for new employee onboarding and orientation.
  • Handles benefit administration and annual benefit enrollment.
  • Handles COBRA administration, unemployment claims, FMLA/OFLA leaves, and ADA accommodations.
  • Updates and maintains organizational charts.
  • Administers HR reporting and data analysis, including salary and benefit surveys.
  • Assists with development and maintenance of the compensation plan.
  • Maintains HR system records and personnel files.
  • Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment status.
  • Assists with training of employees and managers.
  • Responds to employee and manager inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures.
  • Assists VPHR with personnel issues and investigations.
  • Assists with employee events, including internal professional development opportunities.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Facilitates the exit process for employees who leave the institution.
  • Collaborates with VPHR on long-term projects such as implementing legislative changes and developing training curriculum.
  • Primary back up to VPHR
  • Is present in the office on a daily basis unless arrangements are made with the direct supervisor.
  • Contributes to the support and implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
  • Participates in Warner Pacific University’s professional development opportunities and community events.
  • Adheres to University policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a Christian liberal arts education by upholding the mission of the University and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.
  • Exhibits commitment to inclusiveness and sensitivity in areas of national origin, ethnicity, culture, gender, and disabilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Strong recruiting experience.
  • Strong on boarding and off boarding skills
  • Applied knowledge of current and changing Federal and Oregon State laws and regulations, such as FMLA/OFLA/ADA
  • Ability to build rapport throughout the organization with a strong customer focus while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written communications at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two years of Human Resources experience.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience facilitating presentations, trainings, and other meetings as needed.
  • Experience working with the Ellucian Colleague ERP or similar HRIS system.
  • Demonstrated experience developing recruitment strategies.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
