This is a Part Time Opportunity. 8 hour shift, 3 Days a week.
Maintain medical records in accordance with federal and state guidelines, as well as, in accordance with facility policies and procedures, to assure that a complete medical records program is maintained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
Maintain, secure, store and keep confidential all medical records and information.
Assist the facility in complying with all pertinent Federal and/or State requirements.
Prepare, assemble and audit medical records information in accordance with the facility’s Medial Records Policies and Procedures.
Properly maintain the Admissions/Discharge Register on every resident according to policy.
Accumulate, process, preserve, retrieve and control distribution of residents’ records (i.e., phone orders, lab work, discharge summaries, history and physicals, etc.).
Coordinate the exchange of residents’ medical records information and records among agencies as necessary according to policy.
Answer record correspondence, subpoenas, court orders and patient request for information from other third parties according to policy.
Consult with the medical staff on matters regarding technical and administrative aspects of medical records service procedures policies and methods.
Periodically audit active records according to policy.
Maintain an orderly, confidential and safe work environment.
Attend all required seminars and inservices.
Attend and participate in meetings as assigned.
Qualifications:
Completion of postsecondary education and be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
Must have basic computer knowledge and knowledge of general office equipment.
Must be capable of maintaining regularly scheduled attendance.
Must be able to work weekend and overtime as required.
Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other associates.
Minimum of one (1) year related experience at a level necessary to accomplish this position
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT:
Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smell and temperatures, ability to read and write, ability to communicate with personnel, families, residents and outside agencies. Ability to remain calm under stress.
Willing to work beyond normal working hours and during disastrous circumstances, as needed.
