WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Human Resources Coordinator position will coordinate all activity related to Human Resources functions including, but not limited to: labor relations, recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, training, communications, safety program and community relations. The position will work proactively with VCNA Prairie Materials management in the development of Human Resources strategies that align the work force with company performance goals and needs.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Provide input and expertise in the development and implementation of progressive human resources practices, processes and programs as part of the Human Resources team.
  • Assists managers and supervisors in the interpretation of the collective agreement to ensure adherence and advises in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Works in conjunction with Human Resources Manager to develop and administer HR budget.
  • Assists Human Resources Manager and plant management in the recruiting process.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation program to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Maintains SAP that supports the information needs of plant management and the operational excellence initiatives.
  • Maintain employee files to ensure they are current.
  • Compiles, analyses and assists in the preparation of reports to provide plant management with information on issues such as overtime, demographics, absenteeism, WSIB, disability claims.
  • Prepares and submits month end and year end reports as requested.
  • Collaborates with Health & Safety coordinator to support and promote awareness of the health and safety programs.
  • Coordinates or schedules all aspects regarding training delivery. This may be done in conjunction with other internal or external personnel.
  • Provides support to ensure performance management program is completed on time.
  • Coordinates employee relations functions e.g. recognition, safety and social.
  • Enhances community relations through coordination of corporate donations, event participation and amicable communication.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, collective agreements, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
