Until Filled VACANCY: The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a Facility Operations Manager position for the 2023-2024 school year.
JOB SUMMARY: Performs functions such as managing and scheduling the operations of the physical school facilities and maintaining the facilities in a condition of functional excellence to support full educational use of the physical environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develops plans for preventive maintenance in conjunction with the Director of Facility Operations.
• Examines school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance.
• Estimates cost of projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
• Establishes and recommends priorities on projects.
• Develops a system for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency.
• Prepares reports on cost of work done, materials used, and labor expended.
• Consults with building principals regarding annual capital improvement projects, and preventive maintenance projects.
• Maintains personnel and other such records as are required.
• Recommends to Director of Facility Operations for hiring and trains all craftspeople necessary to the maintenance program.
• Recommends contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services.
• Coordinates with the department Leadmen the following activities, but not limited to:
  • Schedules operation of the air-conditioning plant and emergency generator.
  • Oversees the repair, lubrication, and cleaning of all heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment.
  • Schedules the preparation of playing fields, grounds, and other necessary facilities for athletics and other school activities.
  • Receives, stores, and issues all maintenance and grounds materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensures that all snow removal equipment is in working order.
  • Establishes a schedule for snow removal.
  • Assigns and supervises crews of craftspeople for maintenance work such as replacing worn or defective wiring, switches, faucets, plumbing fixtures, etc., and repairing fencing, asphalt, concrete, ceiling, etc., and grounds maintenance.
  • Lays-out and inspects work and assists crew members.
  • Orders materials as needed and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchases through the Director of Facility Operations.
  • Assigns work orders; checks drawings and plans.
• Other duties which may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of the basic principles of construction, maintenance and security.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find acceptable and appropriate.

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in supervisory capacity in either business, industry, or a governmental agency is desirable.
• Experience in scheduling of maintenance and grounds functions is desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work year for this position is 12 months. The salary is competitive with excellent fringe benefits, including life, health and dental insurance.
