US National Gallery of Art is Hiring an Information Technology Specialist (Data Scientist) Near Washington, DC

Duties

As the IT Specialist (Data Scientist), you will:

  • Design and describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources, management concepts and analytical approaches/options. Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, visualize data, and build scalable analytics products and models. Translate among the languages used by executive, business, IT, and quant stakeholders. Write code as needed to complete above duties in a platform-based analytics environment. Develop and maintain predictive models to support business decisions.
  • Assess the ability of data resources and infrastructure to meet stakeholder needs. Identify and develop multiple data access methods for staff and stakeholders. Collaborate with data and solutions architects to design and implement scalable data pipelines suited to analytics needs.
  • Lead analytics projects, build stakeholder relationships, support development of TDS analytics initiatives, processes, and capabilities; identifies National Gallery and stakeholder needs for data of sufficient quality for intended uses. Conduct data profiling and data quality assessments to ensure appropriate and reliable use of data in analytics; participates in peer review with team and community of practice members. Explore new data sources for integration into existing data infrastructure.
  • Communicate findings and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including practical interpretation and implications for use. Collaborate with data and solutions architects to design scalable data pipelines suited to analytics needs. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and consult on digital concepts and technologies in business/mission terms to business leaders and business concepts to technologists. The candidate should be able to "sell" ideas and processes internally at all levels, as well as at the board level.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-2210-13. For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, applying machine learning techniques to a business intelligence system.

  • Data Science – Skill in coding, machine learning, applying inferential and descriptive statistics, and software development to help run business analytics
  • IT – Knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and functions as it relates data analytics and structures
  • Analysis – Ability to analyze data, data systems and procedures, and apply predictive analytics to solve critical/unsolved problems.
  • Communication – Skill in both oral and written communication, for consulting, reporting and delivering information to a technical or non-technical audience.
