University Settlement Society of NY is Hiring a Program Director - College Paths Program Near Brooklyn, NY

The Director of College and Academic Services will oversee all College Paths programming at University Settlement Society of New York Talent Search program to manage all college and academic support initiatives at various schools and locations at University Settlement, and manage career explorations, internships, post-secondary career pathway programs. College Paths programs, and specifically Talent Search, seek to increase the number of youths from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school or equivalent and enroll in post-secondary education institutions of their choice. In this role, the Director will manage contractual requirements, develop and maintain relationships with administrators at local high schools, school districts, post-secondary institutions, TRiO partners, and college access consortiums. She/he/they will monitor quality service delivery and oversee program development so that young people in College Passports/ Talent Search receive appropriate services based on their individual needs and achieve successful educational outcomes.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision, training, and support to the Talent Search College Coordinator, College Advisors, Learning Strategists and related staff partner schools
  • Monitor program's progress toward the attainment of performance measures in compliance with funder and program requirements
  • Maintain participant records in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Develop and manage budgets and expenditures in compliance with all funder requirements
  • Supervise program and curriculum development related to secondary education completion, college access and affordability, exam preparation, secondary school or equivalent entry
  • Develop and oversee programming to facilitate a young person's completion of secondary education and successful transition to and through college including but not limited to academic achievement, life skill development, and career readiness
  • Create and maintain a network of partners across higher education institutions, local schools, and organizations as related to academic support and college access and success related initiatives.
  • Work with new and existing partner organizations to design and continually expand on postsecondary educational opportunities for young people
  • Support and work with Associate Executive Director of Youth and Community Programs to assess department-wide staff development and training needs and identify and help implement appropriate trainings.
  • Support and work with Associate Executive Director of Youth and Community Programs and Development team on grant proposals, reports, site visits, prospecting and other fundraising activities
  • Work with Data team to analyze quantitative and qualitative program data to inform decisions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and practice the principles of positive youth development, diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary staff in cross-departmental efforts to increase services to specific youth populations and provide appropriate support for young people
  • Act as part of program management team and senior leadership team to ensure the coordination of services to young people requiring comprehensive services in order to meet their life skill, educational and employment needs
  • Serve as part of University Settlement's Leadership team in setting the tone and the direction of the organization in alignment with the vision of the Executive Director
  • Handle any appropriate responsibilities and functions as assigned by the supervisor


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education, counseling or related field
  • 3-5 years of proven excellence in program management, development, and presentation skills
  • Knowledgeable of and ability to apply positive youth development principles to working with young people
  • Previous work managing guidance, college, or financial aid programs preferred
  • Experience working with teenagers in a youth development setting
  • Experience in high school career and technical education
  • Highly organized and creative
  • Requires evening and weekend hours
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Mandarin preferred
  • Ability to participate as part of an interdisciplinary team

Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
