Brief Description of DutiesIncumbent functions as a Technical Support Specialist for the David A. Clarke School of Law and is responsible for the planning and delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance and training, at the University of the District of Columbia, and as such, performs the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Installs and configures client side network printing software, wireless LAN networking hardware and anti-virus and Spyware removal software.
• Performs general PC troubleshooting across the spectrum of Microsoft desktop operating systems.
• Deciphers hardware and software problems in a time critical environment.
• Installs operating system patches and service packs.
• Identifies and responds to virus outbreaks; isolates, cleans and restores virus-infected computers.
• Locates and fixes problem entries within the computer registry.
• Recovers data from damaged hard drives and restores computers to factory presets.
• Performs diagnostics to troubleshoot hardware failure; researches, evaluates and provides feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements.
• Performs other duties assigned. 

 Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least 2 years of desktop management or IT experience required.

Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation. The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.
