SalarySalary Range: $55,000- $65,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Essential FunctionsPurpose of Position:
To support the Office of the Vice President for Research, Economic Development, and Knowledge Enterprise's (REDKE) strategic goals by (1) positioning the department as an exemplar for research excellence, (2) generating awareness of and support for UTSA's prominence in Tier One research, (3) increasing broad, national visibility of UTSA researchers as thought leaders, and (4) leading the institution's executive communications and strategic messaging efforts relative to its research and knowledge enterprise.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and drive UTSA REDKE's comprehensive messaging, with a focus on short-term and long-term strategies, institutional differentiators and continual integration of industry trends.
- Identify, pursue, secure and manage social media accounts and opportunities.
- Draft executive communications from start to finish, including messaging platforms, op-eds, executive bylines and other pieces.
- Work across the department to conceptualize, develop and propose internal and external communications plans and tactics to tell the UTSA research story.
- Monitor the university's news and communication channels for strategic messaging; provide counsel to UTSA content developers to ensure a unified, one-voice approach to storytelling.
- Develop, update and disseminate REDKE's strategic messages to internal audiences.
- Provide counsel to UTSA students, faculty, staff and alumni to promote branding and communications best practices and compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Five years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing, marketing, media relations, social media content development or related experience.
- A Master's degree may be substituted for experience up to two years.
- Demonstrated ability in the development of op-eds, executive speeches, strategic messages, talking points and other communications to advance executive visibility.
- Proven project management experience (e.g. proven ability to prioritize work independently to meet deadlines).
- Experience in independently identifying, developing and securing visibility opportunities with a sense of urgency.
- A deep understanding of organizational branding and its importance. Exceptional research, writing and fact-checking skills.
- Tact, discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality, when required. Ability to establish structure during periods of change and growth.
- Exceptional judgement, keen sense of excellent customer service and creativity Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Superlative writing and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to understand and creatively solve complex problems in a deadline driven environment.

This position will be primarily located:
Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
