Job Details:

General NotesThe University of Texas at Austin is seeking to hire a Project Manager II (PM2) for the department of Campus Construction. You'll be working for a university that is internationally recognized for our academic programs and research. 40.00 hours, standard schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Limited weekend and after hours work or availability may be required.Purpose

Provide professional project management of design and construction projects for university facilities. Projects may include new construction, fit-out of shell spaces, renovation of existing spaces, and maintenance of existing building and campus infrastructure, up to 10 million dollars per project.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates leadership, management, organization and communication skills. Provide excellent customer service to meet client needs and university Design & Construction Standards.
  • Provide professional direction for project teams to achieve common goals and successful projects.
  • Provide consistent, timely and reliable communication between all project stakeholders, including clients, professional service providers, university personnel and contractors to ensure that projects are thoroughly documented and understood.
  • Assist with development of project scope, budget and schedule for multiple projects or tasks simultaneously. Manage and track project budgets and schedules, and develop reports as directed. Maintain up to date project reporting.
  • Procure services of Professional Service Providers (PSPs) and Construction teams and help administer agreements.
  • Stay current with legislation, building codes, building materials and methods, and university design and construction standards.
  • Learn and maintain awareness of project safety requirements, following OSHA standards.
  • Participate on committees, task forces, etc. to improve the departmental mission of excellent customer service and project delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management,Construction Science, or related discipline, or comparable related experience.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience providing project management of design and construction activities for renovations and new construction of institutional or commercial facilities.
  • Growing knowledge of contract documents (plans, specifications).
  • Experience obtaining construction bids and negotiating construction contracts.
  • Growing knowledge of life safety and building codes including, NFPA 101, IBC, ASHRAE, Texas Accessibility Standards, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, among others.
  • Experience using Excel, Microsoft Word, and scheduling software such as MS Project.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working toward licensure as a professional architect or engineer.
  • LEED-AP credentials.
  • Experience managing design and construction for projects in a higher education setting as the owner's representative.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or other similar demonstration of formal project management training.
Salary Range

$80,000 depending on qualifications

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
