Senior Project Manager - Austin, Texas

GBA is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Transportation Group located in the Austin, Texas office. This position entails project management and a lead role for delivering design projects for TxDOT. The ideal person will offer expertise, provide guidance to team members, and lead by example. This opportunity will be based out of our brand-new Northern Austin office and service the entire Austin Metro area.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of Plan, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) preparation of highway projects.
• Supervise team of engineers and technicians in the design of transportation engineering projects including, but not limited to construction, reconstruction, or rehabilitation of intersections, local roads, collector streets, arterials, freeways, interstates, bridge replacements, and simple and complex interchanges.
• Provide staff management and hands-on expertise to facilitate the design of complex projects with a multidisciplinary team.
• Apply project management principals to project delivery of simultaneous and complex, multi-discipline projects.
• Provide strong leadership, planning, and mentoring skills in the areas of safety, engineering, construction sequencing, quality, costs, agency coordination, and public/community relations.
• Assist in project pursuit planning, development, and engagement for Texas clients.
• Identify transportation project opportunities early and participate in go/no-go decisions in cooperation with Transportation Group leadership.
• Serve as Capture or Project Manager for key pursuits, lead pursuit strategy and capture plan development to pre-sell projects before RFP release.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
• Establish and maintain new client relationships.
• Negotiate and successfully manage project scopes, schedules, and levels of effort.
• Establish and administer oversight of critical project-specific objectives throughout every stage, from research and client meetings through procurement to contract closeout.
• Lead meetings and trainings in support of clients and staff.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, other states a plus
• 10 years of experience in plan development and project design
• Strong working knowledge of TxDOT design standards, policies, and procedures
• TxDOT Pre-Certifications
• Experience with Business Development/Client Relations
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels, internally and externally
• Ability to develop and maintain strong internal working relationships across all lines of our business
• Experience with design software including MicroStation, OpenRoads, and OpenBridge
