Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Human Resources Business Partner (Lead HRBP) functions as a member of the HR Management Team and as an engaged HR leader who acts as a coach, mentor and leader to their assigned HRBP team, as well as an expert Business Partner to organizational managers within their assignment. Is responsible for delivery and implementation of HR services and requirements in a way that assists the organization in achieving its business objectives, while ensuring a high degree of consistency throughout the organization. Is accessible and visible to the HRBP team and assigned departments, leaders, and employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Lead HRBP is a business leader who supports their HRBP team by helping them develop and implement better people management practices, helping to identify best practices among their team and sharing it more broadly with the entire HRBP team. This individual has shared responsibility with the other Lead HRBPs for HRBP goals and deliverables.
  • Provides leadership to HRBP team, managers, and supervisors within the Lead HRBPs assigned area(s). Acts as an advisor to faculty. May have direct supervisory responsibility for HR personnel in assigned areas.
  • Helps their HRBP team identify solutions for client, manages HR problems and needs, and assists their assigned HRBP team in identifying solutions that build and enable business capability.
  • In collaboration with the HRBP team, exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative, developing and directing broad Human Resources programs and initiatives for large and complex business areas.
  • Serves as an advisor to the HRBP team on matters related to the management of staff; integrates full knowledge of industry and organizational requirements and trends into operational and strategic planning.
  • Leads their HRBP team to design, develop, and execute effective HR strategies and best practices, while ensuring alignment with University and HR policies, practices, and objectives.
  • The Lead HRBP is expected to design and participate in the development of the HRBP team's leadership skills and style, and to support the development of people plans in support of business goals and HR strategies.
  • In collaboration with the HR Centers of Excellence, facilitates the creation and implementation of communication plans for HR related matters.
  • Assesses and anticipates HR-related needs in their unit and across the HRBP team. The Lead HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy and helps to develop that literacy among the HRBP team.
  • Leads meetings for their assigned groups and helps develop strategic initiatives that are relevant to the team leveraging the individual talents of the team.
  • The Lead HRBP is an experienced HR professional, with broad experience and expertise that builds valuable relationships with the HRBP team and internal clients, and serves to transfer requests and solutions to/from the business unit and Human Resources.
  • Acts as a resource for the HRBP team and managers on HR matters, including questions on staffing, benefits, labor, employee relations and other items. Helps identify and involve key organizational experts to help develop solutions.
  • Formulates partnerships across the HR functions with their assigned team from each center of excellence to deliver value-added services to managers and employees in alignment with business objectives.
  • Manages complex and difficult HR projects cross-functionally and in collaboration with the HRBP team.
  • Works with AVP of HR to create orientation plans for new HRBPs and develops annual training and development plans for the HRBP group.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree preferably in Management, Business Administration or Human Resources; 5-7 years of experience advising managers or working at a HR managerial level, preferably in a complex organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Higher education experience desirable.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $95,306 - $142,979 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined byconsidering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
