The Division of Global Engagement (DGE) works to make the University of Oregon a more global university. In 21st century higher education, international engagement is not an optional extra: as noted in UO's Academic Plan, it is a core mission, essential to a thriving, socially salient, intellectually robust, academic community. It is part of the normal functioning of every school, college, department, and center. DGE works to support and integrate the wide range of international engagements, global-scale projects, and transnational partnerships launched and maintained in our many academic units. Units within DGE consist of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), Global Education Oregon (GEO), and the Global Studies Institute (GSI).
The Finance Director (FD) will serve as the Division of Global Engagement’s principal accounting officer, providing both direct support and direct management of all fiscal functions. As the Finance Director, you will provide oversight at the transaction detail level of financial operations and be responsible for ethical and efficient handling of all financial transactions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, University, and state regulations.
As the next Finance Director, you will be reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Global Engagement (AVP) and will work independently with the Dean and Vice Provost and members of unit leadership to manage financial operations and anticipate problems. This includes providing financial guidance and support for staff at all levels within each component unit of DGE and working with unit and divisional leadership to oversee financial planning and analysis. You will collaborate closely with GEO’s Finance and Operations Manager and other staff working on financial and related functions.
You will have level 2 signature authority for purchases and PSCs up to $25,000. At the direction of DGE leadership, you will have unlimited budget authority for unit funds, authorize travel expenditures, and have authority to authorize expenditures from all UO Foundation accounts associated with the Division of Global Engagement when directed to do so by unit or divisional leadership. You will model the highest ethical standards and positive and proactive attitude, maintain a respectful workplace, and be receptive to feedback, have a willingness to learn, and embrace continuous improvement.
