The Division of Center for GlobalHealth, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking an experiencedtechnician withexperience in a wide array of laboratory techniques, including select agent andnon-select agent BSL3 experience, virus handling, tissue culture, Q-PCR,ELISAs, western blots, and neutralizingantibody assays. In addition, a strongbackground or ability to conduct laboratory management duties, such asbudgeting, safety and animal protocol writing, and ordering, arepreferred.
The lab focuses on virus-host interactions,with an emphasis on vaccine development, immunology, and basic virology of emergingand re-emerging viral pathogens, as there are few treatments or vaccinesavailable for many of these viruses. Thelab studies a range of hantaviruses, paramyxoviruses, flaviviruses,alphaviruses, and arenaviruses.

The Department of Internal Medicine is a large, progressivedepartment with a diverse staff working in dedicated teams to provide qualitywork in an organized, effective, and efficient manner through innovation,training, and education. High school diploma or GED; at least 9 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
