University Communication & Marketing (UCAM) is looking for a digital marketing professional who will support The University of New Mexico’s marketing and brand strategy.

The Digital Marketing Specialist at UNM is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing digital marketing and advertising campaigns, including all aspects of digital advertising (search, display, paid social, programmatic, direct digital media) and inform SEO and website digital content development. This role requires a creative and analytical thinker who can leverage various digital channels to drive engagement, raise awareness, and support enrollment efforts. The Digital Marketing Specialist will also collaborate on or lead other marketing projects and initiatives as needed.


This role is highly collaborative, working closely with marketers, photographers, videographers, and graphic designers—all within a department that also oversees institutional communication, media relations, web services and social media.

Working closely with the University Social Media Manager, this person will develop digital advertising campaigns that integrate across paid and organic digital media. This professional will also work with the UCAM Creative Services Manager to support digital marketing needs of key partner departments, such as UNM Online. 

The work this person will do may be internally managed or in partnership with an outside branding or digital agency.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Digital Campaign Management

  • Advertising: Manage UNM’s digital advertising portfolio, including ad development, copywriting, SEM key word selection, audience segmentation, etc.
  • Strategy: Help to develop the University’s digital marketing strategy within the integrated marketing communication plan set by department leadership.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present data on digital marketing success, activity, and opportunities on a regular basis. 
  • Outside Department Support: Provide digital marketing services and guidance to key UCAM partners, including but not limited to UNM Online and the Division of Enrollment Management.

Content Development

  •  Concept and create digital advertising and marketing content—this may include copywriting, art direction, and effective selection of multimedia assets.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to produce photography, videography, and graphic design assets necessary for digital communications.

Marketing Projects Support

  • Lead or contribute to various marketing projects, such as digital and traditional media campaigns, or experiential branding events.
  • Assist in day-to-day marketing tasks that support marketers and communicators outside UCAM to uphold the brand style and strategy.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates must be able to work in an integrated marketing communication team environment and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Candidates must be able to interact well with a diverse faculty, staff and student population in a professional and productive manner and create positive working relationships across campus and within UCAM.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Brand and advertising copywriting experience
  • Knowledge of the higher education industry, trends, and distinct audiences
  • Skilled in Adobe or other creative software
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
