Departmental Overview
The Centers for Educational Equity and Excellence ensure non-traditional students excel at the top public University in the world. By respecting every undergraduate as a unique individual, CE3 programs empower UC Berkeley students to achieve and lead. CE3 is comprised of several programs and centers.
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and the Undocumented Student Program (USP) are two of several CE3 programs. EOP and USP provide holistic support to first generation, low-income, underrepresented and undocumented college students with the guidance and resources necessary to succeed at UC Berkeley, one of the best public universities in the world. EOP & USP academic counselors and student staff work alongside amazing students who, despite their unique responsibilities and challenges, transform their lives through academic achievement and personal growth. EOP's individualized academic counseling, comprehensive support services, and extensive campus referral network help students develop the unique gifts and talents they each bring to the university while empowering them to achieve. USP's holistic services aim to support the advancement of undocumented students within higher education and promote pathways for engaged scholarship.

Responsibilities
Participates in the development, administration, and revision of standard operating procedures and guidelines.
Manages the oversight of EOP's student facing locations. This role will continue the development of hybrid (in-person and virtual) service protocols to provide continued access to resources EOP and USP students receive through intake operations.
Conducts trends analyses and data collection based on intake student interactions, services and space usage.
Develops resulting recommendations to promote the efficiency of EOP/USP student facing locations.
Functions as a resource on issues including, but not limited to: escalated customer service problems, and inventory needs.
Provides general academic, personal, financial, and career counseling across disciplines and colleges / schools to marginalized populations (e.g., low-income, first-generation college, and underrepresented populations).
Analyzes and assesses students' presenting concerns and needs.
Knowledgeable of pertinent advising deadlines and policies to best support and refer EOP/USP students.
Advocates on behalf of student concerns.
Hires, trains, and supervises paraprofessionals - specifically, EOP/USP intake student staff and interns.
Assists students in developing problem-solving and self-management skills as a part of their professional development.
Facilitates small group discussion sessions with student staff and interns.
Supports the implementation of services in the EOP/USP student locations by other EOP/USP student staff, such as Peer Academic Counselors, EOP STEM coordinators, etc.
Administers external outreach communications via creation of marketing materials, social media curation, and website maintenance.
Conducts follow-up and outreach activities to students.
Assumes liaison responsibility with academic departments and community organizations to provide direct resources to EOP and USP students.
Provides assistance with the planning and delivery of EOP/USP events including, but are not limited to: EOP/USP New Student Welcome, EOP Frosh Yield Reception, Community Events, Workshops, etc.
Participate in professional development opportunities that enhance individual and collective work towards supporting students and addressing inequities that non-traditional communities experience.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of trends and issues facing low-income and first-generation college, underrepresented, disadvantaged, physically challenged, and under prepared students in higher education.
Knowledge and experience in analyzing problems and identifying solutions for problem-solving; skills and experience in developing and administering programs.
Knowledge of personal growth and development areas, including critical thinking, effective communication, self-appraisal, self-esteem, clarification of values, appropriate career choices, and leadership.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the theories and practice of counseling, learning, human and career development.
Knowledge of the methodologies used to enhance student achievement.
Knowledge of or ability to learn University, college, and major requirements, policies and procedures, including policies on handling student records and confidential documents.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements to provide for access, health, confidentiality, and safety; legal and ethical issues governing the delivery of counseling services.
Salary & Benefits
This is a two-year, full-time (40 hours/week), Contract position, and eligible for full UC benefits.
This position is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. Hourly pay for this role is commensurate with experience within the range of $27.06 - $29.22.
This is a remote-friendly position, eligible for 40% remote capability.
