Departmental Overview
The Centers for Educational Equity and Excellence (CE3), a cluster of over10 equity student support programs in the Division of Equity and Inclusion,provide complex and multi-format programs and services to marginalizedstudent populations to ensure their successful transition into the university,academic retention/success, degree completion, and pursuit of graduatestudy and professional careers. These services have a critical impact onthe campus' ability to fulfill its mission of equity, access, and inclusion to California's diverse student population. CE3 services and expertise includesolution-focused academic counseling and intervention, assessment ofacademic needs and addressing academic and nonacademiccomplexities/barriers to academic success; developing individual studyplans; creating and fostering academic, social, and professional supportnetworks and communities; credit bearing transition and success courses;academic strategy and enrichment workshops; enhancing academic skills(e.g., research skills, preparation for graduate programs, academic/worklife balance); academic and summer internships; service learninginternships; student group development; academic achievement awards;scholarships and student scholar programs; student grant and emergencyloan programs; outreach, recruitment, and campus yield activities; andcommunity-building events.University of California, Berkeley

Responsibilities
Electronic Media Communication:
Gathers relevant news / information about the cluster and its various programs.
Drafts simple news releases, program statements, and other brief descriptive narrative for dissemination via media based and print outlets (such as websites, social media, posters, brochures, etc.).
Compiles and maintains files of clippings and / or records of media placements including location information such as photographs, relevant facts/statistics, and reports.
Distributes information as instructed or requested.
Assists in the accommodation of requested media presence, including assisting in the preparation of media packets.
Assists with Cluster Visual Media Content:
Provides assistance to the the Marketing Specialist 3 in the production of original visual media such as videos, photography, and graphic design.
Uses cluster, campus, and/or department logos and branding materials appropriately.
Event support:
Assists in preparing communications materials flyers, name tags, signage, and digital assets.*Assists in staffing event and providing day of operational and administrative support, andother duties as assigned/needed.
Professional Development:
Adds to existing visual and skill set through participation in staff organizations, professional organizations, workshops, conferences, training, and other educational or networking opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Basic knowledge of concepts and principles of news, media communications and media relations.
Basic skills in crafting communications to disseminate messages to target audiences.
Basic written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills and political acumen.
Basic written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills, political acumen, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing social media and website based communication content.
Basic knowledge of the cluster and campus, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives, programs and infrastructure.
Experience developing social media and website based communication content.
Experience helping coordinate and staffing events and programming.
Salary & Benefits
This is a 12-month, full-time (40 hours/week), Contract appointment; eligible for full UC benefits.
This is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. The hourly salary is commensurate with experience.
This is a remote-friendly position, eligible for 40% remote capability.
