University of Baltimore is Hiring a Technical Training Specialist (Soft Funded) Near Baltimore, MD

This is a regular fully-funded position with benefits that is tied to a project scheduled to run through 12/31/2024.
The University System of Maryland (USM) has launched a multi-institutional project, Maryland CONNECT, to upgrade the Human Resources (HCM) and Finance ERP systems across five USM institutions, implementing a shared Workday system. The Technical Training Specialist will work with USM staff at each of the five Maryland CONNECT institutions as well as the project consulting team to develop and implement a comprehensive training program for our campus communities. This includes development of training materials for assigned business processes, providing in-person training, recording training sessions, and posting materials in document sharing platforms. Position may have a primary focus on HCM or Finance depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
Create Workday training materials.

  • Design and develop course materials for each assigned business process: presentations, toolkits, job aids, worksheets, online classes, etc.
  • Coordinate with Maryland Connect project teams to identify the information to be covered in training and facilitate review and approval of finalized training materials.
  • Conduct ongoing needs analysis, evaluation and assessment of the training materials and delivery, and adjust as needed.

Training Administration

  • Manage posting course materials as needed; courses will be posted to document sharing platforms including SharePoint and Microsoft Teams, as well as the Workday Learning module.
  • Update the course registration tool with necessary information; registration tools will include basic form applications (Microsoft Forms, Google Forms, etc.) and Workday Learning.

Training Delivery

  • Deliver instructor-led training sessions on virtual platforms including Zoom and Microsoft Teams
  • Record video training, voice over training, etc

Communication and Engagement

  • Monitor training development and communicate issues to Training Lead
  • Assist in development of communication to campus communities regarding training

Required Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technology, training, or business-related field.
Experience: Three years of experience in training, technical writing, instructional design, or business process design experience. Experience in higher education and/or experience with Workday as a user or trainer preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Fluent in Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel; competency in Camtasia will be expected within 3-4 months after onboarding. Ability to learn about administrative concepts and create tailored training materials for University System of Maryland’s stakeholder groups. Ability to collaborate across the project team. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop materials appropriate for diverse end-user populations. Ability to meet short and long-term deadlines.
