Job Summary
To serve New Life Church Downtown by serving on NLD's Lead Team, leading our discipleship efforts, overseeing our
discipleship staff and volunteers, providing pastoral care to congregants (particularly women), by teaching in various
environments, and by preaching on Sunday mornings (approximately once a month).
Duties and Responsibilities

• Technologically Proficient: Able to work with several programs including Office 365, Leadr, Nexonia,
  Church Community Builder, Planning Center Online, etc.
• Strong Communicator: Able to communicate in an engaging and effective manner

Essential Responsibilities:
Pastor of Discipleship

• Collaborate with NLD Lead Pastor & NLD Lead Team to further vision and strategy of NLD
• Communicate and execute this vision and strategy in areas of ministry oversight
• Meet regularly with Lead Pastor for oversight
• Meet regularly with staff and volunteers to provide oversight and advance discipleship efforts
• Plan and execute strategic discipleship initiatives, including but not limited to groups, courses, seminars, cohorts, and retreats in the areas of spiritual practices, Bible, theology, stewardship, etc.
• Recruit, vet, train, develop, empower, and pastor volunteers to serve in discipleship efforts
• Provide pastoral care and support to congregants (particularly women) and to our discipleship volunteers
• Oversee ministry area budgets and spending
• Communicate effectively with staff and congregants
• Preach, teach, write and lead within discipleship efforts and potentially within Sunday mornings

• Collaborate with NLD Lead Pastor & NLD Lead Team to further vision and strategy of NLD
• Communicate and execute this vision and strategy in areas of ministry oversight
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Be an active member of NLD and maintain a lifestyle of prayer and personal growth in Christ

• Worship with NLD on Sunday mornings
• Participate in NLD staff meetings, workdays, and retreats
• Assist with and attend NLD special services and events
• Demonstrate ongoing financial support of the ministries of New Life Downtown
• Work in close association with the entire NLD staff to build and maintain a strong team environment among our staff and complete the work necessary to fully serve and support the ministries and events of New Life Downtown
• Serve as Pastor on Call and Pastor on Site, as well as conducting pastoral visitations
• Actively participate in service responsibilities, altar and First Wednesday gatherings
• Manage and respond to calls and emails as needed.
• Assist the department in coordinating various tasks and procedures.
• Communicate regularly with supervisor about departmental issues.
• Assist supervisor with special projects, events, and diverse tasks in support of the department.
• Attend department meetings, regular all-staff meetings and other meetings as required.
• Utilize a thorough understanding of New Life Church employee policies and procedures.
• Work in close association with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment.
• Cooperate with leadership by performing any other duties when asked to do so.

Education and Experience
Education: Master's Degree in Divinity, Biblical Studies, Theology or related field required
Experience: 3-5 years of related pastoral ministry experience required
Qualifications: Meets the qualifications of a New Life Church employee

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to sit and occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Close visual acuity is necessary to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
