Position Title: Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) - Dental Implant Dentistry

Job Summary:
The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) specializing in dental implant dentistry provides chairside assistance to the dentist during dental implant procedures, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patient care. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills to provide optimal support to both the dental team and patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation and Set-Up:
• Prepare treatment rooms for dental implant procedures, ensuring all instruments, materials, and equipment are organized and ready for use.
• Assist in the sterilization and disinfection of instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols.
• Patient Care and Comfort:
• Welcome and prepare patients for dental implant procedures, addressing any concerns and ensuring their comfort throughout the treatment process.
• Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care instructions for dental implants, as directed by the dentist.
• Chairside Assistance:
• Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during dental implant surgeries, including implant placement, bone grafting, and soft tissue management.
• Anticipate the needs of the dentist during procedures, passing instruments, maintaining a clear field of vision, and suctioning as necessary.
• Diagnostic Imaging and Impressions:
• Assist in capturing diagnostic images, such as digital X-rays or cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans, for treatment planning and implant placement.
• Take accurate impressions of patients' dental arches for the fabrication of surgical guides and prosthetic restorations.
• Implant Prosthodontics:
• Assist in the delivery and seating of implant-supported prosthetic restorations, including crowns, bridges, and implant-retained dentures.
• Ensure proper occlusion and fit of implant restorations, making adjustments as directed by the dentist.
• Documentation and Record Keeping:
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment notes, implant specifications, and post-operative progress.
• Enter relevant data into electronic health records (EHR) or practice management software, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Patient Education and Follow-Up:
• Provide post-operative instructions to patients following dental implant procedures, including oral hygiene guidelines and dietary restrictions.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and assist in monitoring patients' healing progress and implant integration.
• Continuing Education and Training:
• Stay informed about advancements in dental implant technology, materials, and techniques through continuing education courses and professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with the dental team to enhance clinical skills and knowledge related to dental implant dentistry.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in accordance with state regulations.
• Previous experience in dental assisting, with specific experience in dental implant procedures preferred.
• Proficiency in chairside assisting techniques, including knowledge of dental instruments and equipment used in implant dentistry.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
• Knowledge of infection control protocols and adherence to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Familiarity with dental practice management software for patient record keeping and scheduling (e.g., Open Dental, Dentrix, Eaglesoft).
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Work Environment:
The work environment for a Registered Dental Assistant specializing in dental implant dentistry typically includes a dental office or clinic setting.
