Duties

As a FACILITY OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, you will:

  • Manage ongoing construction, maintenance, repair, and renovation projects, from inception through to completion.
  • Provide management with status and data calls as requested and serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the area of facilities operations and building management.
  • Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) or site manager on construction and service (i.e., compressed air, HVAC, elevator, electrical, wastewater treatment, janitorial, landscaping, pest control, analytical services, various systems maintenance, etc.) contracts.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
  • Undergo an income tax verification.
  • May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
For the GS-12 - you must have one year of experience at the GS-11 level in the federal service or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes the following:

  • Experience with planning, estimating, scheduling and evaluating various maintenance repair and renovation projects; AND
  • Experience resolving problems that affect construction, renovation and repair of facilities systems; AND
  • Experience developing ways to resolve problems or issues that directly affect the accomplishment of goals and objectives.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

A subject matter expert may be used in the evaluation.
