    Administrative Analyst – Fire & Emergency Services
    The Opportunity
    The Town of Mansfield, Connecticut (www.mansfieldct.gov) is seeking an administrative analyst to support its Fire & Emergency Services Department. The ideal candidate will be a generalist with a strong analytical skill set, with experience in human resources management, budgeting, and payroll. Additionally, candidates must be adept at establishing collaborative working relationships with town staff.
    Sample duties include: Preparing, monitoring, and analyzing department operating and capital budgets and performance measurements; grants management; payroll support; assisting with human resources functions such as recruitment and training of staff; assisting with collective bargaining work such as negotiations, grievances, and investigatory proceedings; coordinating departmental procurement functions; coordinating ambulance billing and collection with our vendor; conducting data analysis and reporting; and providing general administrative and office support to the Fire Chief. Position reports to the Fire Chief.
    About Us
    The Mansfield Fire Department prides itself on providing service to the community with well-trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment. The Department responds around the clock to fire and medical emergencies throughout the 45.5 square mile area of the town from three strategically located fire stations. The Department’s fire prevention division provides a range of business services, code compliance inspections, and fire and life safety outreach and education. The Mansfield Fire Department is committed to professionalism and excellence in every aspect of the services it provides.
    Mansfield, with a population of approximately 26,000, is located in beautiful northeastern Connecticut. Home to the University of Connecticut and located less than an hour from Hartford and Providence, Mansfield offers a unique blend of urban (Downtown Storrs - www.mansfieldmdp.org), suburban, and rural living in a vibrant university setting. Mansfield has a variety of cultural and educational offerings, numerous food and entertainment venues, as well as an abundance of natural resources ideal for activities such as hiking, cycling, and kayaking. Mansfield has adopted a Council-Manager form of government, with the Town Manager serving as the Chief Executive Officer responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Town.
    Work Schedule & Location
    This position is 35 hours per week. The selected candidate will normally work four consecutive days, Mondays-Thursdays. Additionally, due to the public safety related nature of this position, occasional evening or weekend work will be required to meet operational needs of the Department and the Town. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position.
    The primary office for this position is located at the Audrey Beck Municipal Building, 4 South Eagleville Road, Mansfield. Additionally, this position visits our three fire stations located at 879 Stafford Road, 999 Storrs Road, and 1722 Storrs Road.
    Compensation
    The hourly range is $30.98 – $38.72. The hiring rate of pay will depend upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. The Town of Mansfield provides an extremely competitive benefits package. Mansfield participates in the Connecticut Municipal Retirement System (CMERS), a defined pension plan, a variety of other benefits such as medical, vision, dental, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, tuition assistance, paid vacation and holidays.
    Minimum Training and Experience
    Candidates should have an associate’s degree with major course work in human resources, business administration, public administration, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Progressively responsible human resources, business/public administration, or medical office management experience essential. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills. Consideration may be given to equivalent experience and training. Possession of a driver’s license is required.
