Thank you for your interest in employment with the Town of Gorham!The Town of Gorham is currently accepting applications for the full-time (38 hours) position of Administrative Assistant. This position is responsible for providing skilled administrative work in support of the Town’s Community Development Department in the Code Enforcement division, as well as the Assessing, Economic Development, and Planning divisions when needed. The Administrative Assistant supports the daily activities of the Code Officers and Building Inspector and provides outstanding customer service. Work involves considerable contact with the public, maintaining organized electronic and hard copy records, and performing a variety of routine and non-routine administrative tasks. Examples of responsibilities include: issuing permits; scheduling inspections; preparing monthly reports; assisting the public with questions and research; and processing permit fee payments. Work is performed in collaboration with other administrative staff under the direct supervision of the Code Officers and under the general direction of the Director of Community Development.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualities: ability to quickly become familiar with Code Enforcement support functions and related terminology; considerable knowledge of standard office procedures; team-oriented mindset; excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines; superior organizational skills; advanced computer and research skills; and flexibility to work extended office hours as needed.
