What you will do

The Food Service Director is responsible for managing the daily operations of the food and beverage outlets in a Healthcare facility. The primary role will be front of the house forward and also includes the selection, development, and performance management of employees. In addition, they oversee the Executive Chef’s production output and ensure that patients and guests are satisfied with their dining experience.

The Food Service Director:

  • Oversees the function of all food service at the account to ensure excellent customer service and maximize revenue to support overall account operations.
  • Consistently offers professional, friendly, and engaging service.
  • Ensures service standards are meticulously followed while actively supporting the entire team.
  • Handles guest and client concerns and reacts quickly and professionally.
  • Balances operational, administrative and team needs.
  • Staffs and oversees the execution of on-site events.
  • Develops and implements cost-saving measures.
  • Communicates with all departments to ensure that customer service needs and expectations are fulfilled.
  • Oversees an energetic and proactive approach to interviewing, selecting, training, counseling, disciplining, and scheduling all food service team members with a goal of always staying multiple steps ahead of turnover.
  • Works directly with staff to ensure food quality, good service, and cleanliness are strictly adhered to.
  • Assures inventory and its protocols and systems are always maintained.

Ability to:

  • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in verbal and digital environments.
  • Prioritize, organize, and follow up.
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Follow directions thoroughly.
  • Work with minimal supervision.

What you will need

  • Minimum of five (5) years as Food Service Director experience preferred, depending upon formal degree or training.
  • Certified Dietary Manager preferred.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of direct food service operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience managing country clubs, large hotels, school campuses, or retirement community.
  • Experience in a Healthcare is desirable but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of full-service dining room management.
  • Proficient with MS Office, and other organizational computer tools.
  • Budgeting, Capital, and Strategic Planning
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Provide legible communication and directions.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler Certificate Required.
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience is desirable.
  • High school certificate or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Dietary Manager Certification a plus
