REPORTS TO: Food Service Director, Executive Chef

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of tasks including working directly with Registered Dietitians, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and Executive Chefs to provide well-plated, visually appealing, and flavorful food. You will gain experience in a healthcare setting, learn about safe food handling and therapeutic diets, while also creating opportunity for continued professional growth. Direct patient contact placing meal orders via computer hardware, delivering meal trays, collecting meal trays. Stocking units with nourishment daily and recording via online application. Providing an excellent food service experience for our patients and visitors. Washing dishes and adhering to all sanitary regulations governing the handling, storage preparation and serving of food is an expectation of all food service workers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to perform on-the-job training related to sanitary food service standards and safety.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions and pay close attention to details.
• Computer skills and knowledge of working on a tablet.

EXPERIENCE

Food service, bussing or waiting experience; minimum of 3 months preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Passion for food and health of our patients and visitors, and providing excellent customer service
• Direct patient contact - communicating with patients, placing patient meal orders, while following regulatory guidelines for therapeutic diet protocol
• Desire and willingness to adapt to fluctuating patient acuity/complexity and patient and customer requests
• Communicates effectively and professionally with team members, patients, clinical staff and visitors and works well in a team atmosphere
• Adhering to all sanitary regulations governing the handling, storage preparation and serving of food is required of all food service workers
• Working with various departments, providing an interdepartmental coordination of care to ensure proper meal delivery and times
• Stocking department/units with nourishment items between meal times and recording activities and inventory via online application
• Ensure order accuracy and quality

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

• Collecting meal trays, washing and putting away dishes and maintaining standards of safety
• May also perform work on the tray line, cashier station, and may work different preparation or serving stations.
