Job DescriptionSUMMARY: Supervises all Billing staff and Receptionist staff. Performs daily financial functions regarding Accounts Receivable, Human Resources, and performs all functions needed for report gathering for Cost Reports, Audits, etc.
Qualifications: Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Understanding of accounting practices, third party billing, Medicare, Managed Care, Medi-Cal, etc.
Education: College/Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Licenses/Certifications: None required
Experience Required: Must have previous Business Office Management experience in a health care setting.
Essential Functions:
• Daily supervision of Billing and Receptionist staff
• Preparation and maintenance of daily cash flow including communication of cash flow to Administrator
• Aging review for all pay types and follow up of problem accounts
• Perform all Private collection efforts and assist with collection efforts and monitoring of payment issues with all other pay types
• Communicate problems, issues, concerns, etc to Administrator
• Financial counseling with family members and residents as needed.
• Assist Unit Coordinator with financial issues, concerns, etc with inquiries for admission as needed.
• Review Enteral feeding billing monthly and as needed to assure correct billing information, correct billing information if needed and fax documents back to billing agency
• Daily disbursement of petty cash, and petty cash replenishments as needed.
• Assistance with Payroll and Accounts Payable as needed or requested
• Preparation of all financial reports, including journal entries, review, correction and
maintenance of reports. Distribute financial reports to Administrator for review
• Data entry of budgets as instructed by Administrator
• Maintain Depreciation Schedule as needed
• Perform Medi-Cal billing, Medicare billing, deposits preparation, census preparations, etc as needed in absence of staff responsible for those functions.
• Gather and prepare all information, reports and documents needed for Cost Report purposes, Annual Audit, Medi-Cal audits, Work Comp audits, taxes, property tax statements, etc.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of all facility bank accounts
• Monitor Resident Trust Accounts to assure that all residents are within property limits, all refunds upon discharge are done timely per regulation and that all policies and procedures are followed for the safeguarding of resident funds and that all State and Federal regulations are being followed.
• Communication with lab, pharmacy, etc regarding resident billing inquiries, etc.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions
• Knowledge of billing procedures for all payment types
• Knowledge of collection laws and procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, employees, administration and outside agencies.
