The University of Alabama is Hiring a Compensation Analyst I - 523749 Near Tuscaloosa, AL

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8)

Department/Organization: 506151 - Talent Acquisition

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Note to Applicants: Higher level Compensation Analyst classification may be considered commensurate with applicants' education and experience, and funding availability.

Job Summary: The Compensation Analyst I assists in the administration of staff compensation and classification programs and projects for the University. Ensures compliance local, state(s), and federal laws. Analyzes and evaluates positions for appropriate titles, pay ranges, and organizational hierarchy to maintain external competitiveness and internal equity. Provides guidance to HR Business Partners.

Additional Department Summary: Researches and analyzes staff position descriptions for classification and compensation. Evaluates FLSA status and AAP coding. Benchmarks University staff positions. Compiles salary information for salary surveys and consults with departments on classification, compensation practices, promotions, and issues related to pay. Maintains current knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws governing compensation.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some compensation or human resources experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of compensation or human resources experience.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to build, maintain, and work effectively with colleagues, faculty, and staff. Effective organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills. Self-directed, and detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to effectively communicate with department representatives and employees at all levels. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing compensation. Knowledge of current job markets and trends. Knowledge of compensation principles and practices. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters and situations. Proficiency in Excel. Ability to quickly learn new systems and applications.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organizational Development. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification. Experience reviewing position descriptions for classification and FLSA status. Experience in higher education.
