Trilogy Behavioral Healthcare is Hiring a Chief Financial Officer Near Chicago, IL

Overview:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the fiscal oversight of Trilogy. The CFO will oversee all financial compliance and governance as it relates to federal, state, county, and city contracts, as well as private grants. S/he must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace. The CFO is a strategic thought partner and plays a critical role in strategic decision-making, ensuring that the organization continuously enhances its financial management. The CFO will lead, develop, and mentor financial professionals dedicated to a culture of excellence through servant leadership and exemplary fiducial responsibility.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains financial management policies and procedures that align with the organizations mission, ensuring that Trilogy complies with all applicable accounting standards and best practices for nonprofit organizations.
  • Develop a system of performance metrics that support the company's strategic direction and align with company's values
  • Work in conjunction with the CEO and the Finance Committee of the Trilogy Board to develop a standardized reporting format, including financial results, financial KPIs, risk management strategies, and notable operational developments.
  • Ensures proper functioning of accounting systems including the implementation and management of system changes and upgrades.
  • Manages cash flow planning and ensures availability of funds as needed.
  • Evaluates financial information and makes actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Oversees cash investments and asset management. Oversees financing strategies and activities as well as banking relationships
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly financial statements and financial analysis for strategic leadership, the Trilogy Board of Directors Finance and Audit Committees, and the Board of Directors at large.
  • Oversees and leads annual budgeting and planning process; administers and reviews all financial plans and budgets; monitors progress and changes and keeps senior leadership team abreast of the organizations financial status.
  • Develops and utilizes forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organizations operations and business plans.
  • Participates in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team
  • Engages the Finance Committee of the Trilogy Board to develop short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections
  • Represents the organization to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, auditors, and public officials.
  • Implements a robust contracts management and financial management/ reporting system; ensures that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to, and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
  • Ensures maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
  • Coordinates preparation for external audits and filing of tax returns and 990 forms; ensures that Trilogy follows all applicable GAAP accounting standards and best practices with respect to accounting for non-profits and community foundations.
  • Oversees the administration of professional liability programs of the agency and recommends insurance requirements and policies that meet both staff, operational and financial needs
  • Understand the current and potential risks to which the business is subjected and take steps to mitigate risks, including use of control systems, shifting risk to other parties, and insurance coverage.
  • Review and act upon the findings and recommendations of internal and external auditors.
  • Coordinates the purchase or lease of major fixed assets.
  • Develops, leads, manages, and evaluates all accounting and finance staff, providing feedback, setting professional development goals, and completing thorough performance evaluations
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 7 years of senior financial leadership (CFO/Controller/Finance Director) with direct supervision of financial staff and reporting directly to President/CEO or equivalent is required
  • A CPA is required. An MBA or Master of Science in Finance is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrates direct experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fee-for-service, fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge of all nonprofit audit best practices, as well as state and federal laws regarding nonprofit operations
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, along with excellent presentation skills
