Job Overview
The Prep Cook will assist with food preparation in the kitchen. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting upworkstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according torecipes.
A great prep cook will be quick and diligent and willing toimprove on the job. You will be deft and able to follow instructions as well asall health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also beable to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.
Responsibilities andDuties
●Followthe prep list created by chefs to plan duties
● Labeland stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easilyaccessible
● Measureingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
● Preparecooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
● Undertakebasic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
● Preparesimple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.
● Maintaina clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking outtrash etc.
● Ensureall food and other items are stored properly
● Complywith nutrition and sanitation guidelines
● Performother kitchen duties as assigned
Requirements
●Provenexperience as prep cook
● Knowledgeof health and safety rules in a kitchen
● Manualdexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
● Ateam player with good communication skills
● Patientwith an ability to stay positive under pressure
● Verygood physical condition and endurance
● Highschool diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school willbe an asset
