The Master’s Apprentice
Mission
Our Mission is to provide young adults a bridge to the skilled trades through basic training, on the job experience and the creation of a career path that will enable transition to financial independence.
Description
The Master’s Apprentice is a faith-based ministry where the Christian faith is an integral component. We were created to connect low-income young adults searching for a brighter future to career paths in the construction trades. For over 10 years, our pre-apprenticeship classes have placed hundreds of low-income individuals into high paying apprenticeships in HVAC, plumbing, electrical carpentry and more!
The pre-apprentice program is a competency based educational program that will teach low-income individuals (ages 18 ) the basic skills and knowledge needed to meet the minimum standards of acceptance into formal apprenticeships by employers. The classroom curriculum includes work ethics, construction math, personal finance, and career research and resume/interview skills. Students will also have practical hands-on experience learning to work with tools and basic plans, building and producing simple projects in our workshop lab. The experience will also be enhanced through various field trips and industry tours.
Overview
The Assistant Program Manager (APM) must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ and support the ministry’s Statement of Faith. The APM must be a self-starter with ability to work independently and as a team member in developing, implementing, and teaching a pre-apprentice educational program that will meet or exceed industry standards for the skilled trades. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask while working with a wide variety of volunteers and students. The APM will be responsible to help manage and deliver all program curriculum including the recruitment, coaching and support of apprentices in successfully completing the 6-week course. APM will assist the Program Manager to “facilitate” matching apprentices with potential employers and following up with post placement support.
