Job Description

Development Manager

About The Lamb Center (www.thelambcenter.org)

The Lamb Center (TLC) is a daytime drop-in shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness in Fairfax, VA. It provides various services without cost to its guests, including breakfast, lunch, showers, laundry service, Bible study, case management, AA meetings, a nurse practitioner clinic, a dental clinic, and much more. TLC partners with local groups and organizations passionate about serving homeless individuals.

About the Development Manager

Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Development Manager supports all TLC development activities through data management, event logistics, and administrative tasks. The Development Manager is an integral member of the development team and helps to create and implement fundraising plans to support the mission of TLC. The successful candidate will be exceedingly well organized, flexible, and fully supportive of the mission of the Lamb Center.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Utilize the CRM (Bloomerang) to manage donor data, run reports, and conduct prospect research to effectively engage and retain donors
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of databases; troubleshoot database issues as needed
  • Work with the Finance Office to ensure appropriate tracking and accounting of gifts
  • Prepare monthly status reports for the Director of Development and Executive Director
  • Provide development support to the Executive Director
  • Work with the Development team to manage the annual fundraising and capital campaign strategies
  • Provide support to various committees and volunteers during fundraising campaigns and events
  • Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising events, including coordination with vendors such as venues, restaurants, caterers, etc., and the creation and finalization of guest lists
  • Execute various communication efforts, including appeal and acknowledgment letters, e-appeals, social media campaigns, and other correspondence to donors, volunteers, community stakeholders, and faith communities to engage donors and provide education and resources regarding the Lamb Center and the population we serve
  • Provide support to Donor Relations and Communications Manager when needed for the dissemination of publications and marketing collateral
  • Write grant requests and proposals as necessary
  • Basic administrative duties such as filing, data entry, filing system maintenance, etc.
  • Assist in scheduling meetings with prospective funders and donors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2 – 4 years of nonprofit experience
  • 2 years of fundraising experience
  • Experience with managing events
  • Strong command of donor database management and advanced computer skills. Experience with Bloomerang is a plus
  • Proficient with managing multiple calendars
  • Has the ability to work a flexible schedule with occasional weekends and evenings
  • Displays exceptional time-management and organizational skills as needed for meeting deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including excellent interpersonal, networking, and presentation skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as under direct supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards
  • Occasional exposure to loud, hectic environment
  • Possible contact with individuals in crisis who may not be attentive to basic personal hygiene, health, and safety practices

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
