The Foundation for Hispanic Education is Hiring a Campus Supervisor Near San Jose, CA

TITLE: Campus Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Student Life Team

SCHOOL: TFHE Schools

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. & 9:00 am - 6:00 pm occasional rotating Saturday's Scheduled.

PURPOSE:

The primary role of the Campus Supervisor is to collect their name and reason for visiting the site per security protocol with daily log reporting; answering or referring inquiries with further direction from TFHE administration; directs visitors by maintaining employee and department in-person or remote directories with appropriate information; giving instructions; maintains security by following procedures, including screening and health advisory notices; monitors mail and deliveries with proper documentation; issuing visitor badges after approval of visits granted, and supervising students in the immediate area for compliance with all aforementioned criteria.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Covers designated areas of review and assignment greets and interacts with parents, students, clients, vendors, visitors, and staff in a professional, friendly, warm, and welcoming manner while following all safety and health protocol.
  • Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students, personnel, and visitors to ensure their understanding and the potential consequences of violation and provides support in mediating issues.
  • Ensures students do not cut and return to class when found wandering during school hours
  • Descalate upset students and redirect their focus.
  • Refers incidents to appropriate site personnel, e.g., injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, etc.
  • Administers First Aid, safety and health-related support, setup of screening devices, delivery of required supplies, and calls for assistance during a medical emergency. Provide appropriate care for ill and/or injured children.
  • Responds to emergency situations in compliance with the School Site Safety Plans and other developed emergency protocols.
  • Issues basic needs supplies such as protective equipment, essential items, and nutrition program student meals following all outlined safety protocol.
  • Assists in investigating incidents, e.g. medical, fights, suspicious activities, etc., by taking appropriate actions to ensure the safety and security of persons and property.
  • Completes assigned emergency training, refresher courses, and protocol review sessions as assigned by supervisor.
  • Engages with students on all sites using restorative justice approaches for conflict resolution, which include mediation, open discourse, and community solutions.
  • Assists teachers and administrators in the direct supervision of students during a variety of assigned campus events and in designated areas to ensure compliance with school policies and procedures relating to the student behavior code.
  • Escorts, directed supervision and logs of students as needed may be required to ensure students are at appropriate campus locations.
  • Prepares documentation to provide written support and/or convey information, e.g., discipline referrals, student passes, incident and activity reports, security logs, security camera review, etc.
  • Operates equipment, e.g., two-way radio, computers, temperature infrared scanners, temperature guns, personal protective equipment, photocopy machines, cameras, etc., to improve efficiency in the completion of job functions.
  • Provides traffic management, visitor vehicle triage, and parking control to maintain efficient traffic flow and use of parking lots.
  • Setup and takedown for on-campus events and meetings with direction relayed from the School Principal. Depending on the event, the site Principal may request a larger role from the Campus Supervisor.
  • Performs special assignments and related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

ABILITY TO:

  • Strong public speaking skills, preferably in English and Spanish
  • Ability to write proficiently in English
  • Ability to maintain logs and document visitor information
  • Ability to follow all safety protocol as provided by the supervisor

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of specified records and information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Valid CA driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of community resources available to parents and students.

SALARY RANGE:

$25-$31/hr

SCHEDULE:

Full-time, year-round, non-exempt position

From time to time, hours will be flexible to accommodate evening and weekend events as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is continuously interacting with the public, staff and students. The employee frequently must meet multiple demands from several people. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand. The employee is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must use hand/grip strength to operate office equipment. Ability to withstand long term use of video display terminals is required.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use interpersonal skills. Frequently required to compare, analyze, communicate, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate and negotiate. Maintain emotional control under stress.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is required to regularly interact with the students, staff and the public. Work with frequent interruptions. Occasional foundation-wide travel (3 school sites); occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
