What We Accomplish Together

If you enjoy displaying your exceptional customer service skills while interacting with a wide variety of guests and ensuring the safety of all individuals on property, the Security Guard position is the job for you. In this position you will work overnight with our other 3rd shift team members to ensure guests have a seamless experience at The Edgewater. You will be the point person for securing premises and personnel by patrolling the property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry, preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; and ensuring the overall safety of our employees and customers. And, do it all as a member of The Edgewater's team - maintaining an energetic, professional, and welcoming demeanor. The Edgewater demands the highest quality of customer service, and the Security Guard position reflects that as you are often times the first person our customers meet upon their arrival.

Job Description

Typical Shift times are 11:00pm-6:30am

• Develops and implements updated security policies and procedures. Continually analyze security procedures and recommend ongoing improvements.
• Help to plan security operations for specific events on property.
• Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
• Investigate and resolve security concerns. Obtains help by sounding alarms.
• Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; denying from property trespassers.
• Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures.
• Maintains environment by monitoring and updating building and equipment controls.
• Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
• Ensures operation of the property by troubleshooting errors and malfunctions; evaluating equipment and communicating repair/replacement needs to the correct departments within the organization.
• Create professional end-of-shift reports to recap each shift.
• Help train other members of the organization in security rules and procedures
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Experience & Skills

• High School diploma required. Additional training/certifications in security administration is strongly preferred.
• 1-3 years as a security team member in a guard or supervisor role.
• Experience using relevant technology and equipment (CCTV, communication equipment, etc.).
• Experience reporting emergency situations and coordinating emergency response.
• Proven knowledge of general security protocols and procedures.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• The ability to work in a collaborative team focused environment.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a professional office environment and full-service hotel. The role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Any individual in this role is required to walk the property multiple times per shift, spending much of their scheduled work time on their feet. This position requires weekend work.
