Job Description:

The College of Wooster is seeking an HR Generalist, who will work in a wide range of HR-related tasks to support the organization's HR department and ensure the effective functioning of human resources activities. This role is critical in supporting both the HR department and employees, contributing to a positive and productive workplace environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the recruitment process by posting open positions, sourcing applicants, reviewing resumes, conducting phone screens, and evaluating applications.
  • Extends offers of employment (in consultation with hiring manager) and notifies non-selected applicants of employment decisions.
  • Prepares confidential documents.
  • Coordinate new employee onboarding, including I-9 employment verification using E-Verify.
  • Maintain and update employee records, including personnel files and HR databases.
  • Handle the offboarding process for departing employees.
  • Employment data entry/integration into the HRIS (Colleague). Including but not limited to, staff, faculty, students, and seasonal employees.
  • Coordination of seasonal hires.
  • Back-up other HR colleagues during high demand periods of data entry
  • Assist in the performance appraisal process.
  • Complete state and federal reporting.
  • Serve as project lead or participant, and champion employee related initiatives as assigned.
  • Organize company events, recognition programs, and surveys to gather feedback.
  • Conduct HR related research, present findings and recommendations in clear, concise manner.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through employee engagement initiatives.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Three plus years of HR roles experience
  • Proven experience in recruitment.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and applicable employment laws.
