The Brookdale Hospital Medical Center is Hiring a Director Near Brooklyn, NY

Overview:

The Director of Employee Health Services is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the department. The Director is responsible for setting and achieving department strategy, goals and objectives. Additionally, the Director is responsible for establishing efficiency, effectiveness, work flow and systems of the area(s) managed.

Responsibilities:
  • The Director will steadfastly promote BHMCs core values of Respect, Dignity and Integrity
  • Prepare the Annual Operating Budget. Monitor monthly expenses to ensure the department is within budget
  • Prepare and distribute all departmental statistics
  • Work closely with Benefits department on the clearance of employees on leave of absence
  • Oversees the compliance of Annual Assessments and flu vaccine. Provide managers with a monthly compliance report for their departments
  • Work closely with Safety to identify and address all issues as it relates to employees
  • Implement processes to improve turnaround time in the department
  • Oversees and assess the need for employee immunizations and manages the administration of all immunizations given
  • Adheres to institutional policies and regulations with regards to medical clearances and makes the necessary referrals/clearances for employee disability, in-service and orientation
  • Communicate department strategy, goals and objectives. Ensure all staff members are aware of deliverable, policies and programs
  • Oversees the pre-employment medical requirements such as physical examination, laboratory requirements such as drug screening and immunization completion which includes MMR, Hepatitis B Vaccines and PPD's. Reads Chest X-Rays and gives final clearance to all new employees
  • Manages staff members regarding client's scheduled orientation, and laboratory schedules and results
  • Provide performance feedback through a formal performance review process, employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary
  • Communicate information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, and regular interpersonal communication
  • Responsible for overseeing the Wellness Program for employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing, masters degree (MSN) preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years nursing experience working in a Employee Health setting required
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Nurse Practitioner required

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Epic Software preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Current competency and knowledge of standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization

Licenses, Certifications:

  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
  • Current CNOR/CRNFA certification (if applicable)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Physical Requirements:

  • Consistent with that necessary to work in a variety of patient care and office settings.
  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
  • Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
