Community Director Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Team Member: You, along with all other team members, are expected to collaborate with and work alongside one another in a way that is respectful, professional, and reliable. You will commit to completing your job duties and meeting expectations of your position, all the while keeping clear lines of communication open with coworkers and supervisors, especially in regards to attendance, completing expected duties, and following company policies and procedures. When unable to do so, you will seek advice from local or corporate leadership positions on how to best navigate the situation that has arisen. You will also conduct yourself in a way that is respectful and welcoming to all – regardless of differences in race, ethnicity, or nationality; spirituality, faith, or religious affiliations; gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation; political alignment or affiliations; abilities or disabilities; age, size, shape, or other physical characteristics; and/or any other factors or characteristics that make you or another person uniquely yourself. This commitment should also translate to providing family and childcare services in our community in such a way that supports the organization’s commitment to providing inclusive and welcoming spaces for all. Although each team member is expected to responsibly complete their own job duties and expectations and will be held accountable for doing so, there is no task completed by one of our team members that is “below” any other team member. Being a team member at World Explorers Group comes with an expectation of willingness to step into different roles as needed in emergency/complicated situations; this willingness enables us as an organization to care for all team members in the midst of difficult life circumstances. If you are unable to commit to this expectation for whatever reason, it is your responsibility to communicate that to local or corporate leadership as soon as possible.
  • Community Coordinator: You will work closely with corporate leadership on the implementation of programs and services and will oversee the implementation of curriculum in all programs housed at World Explorers at 36 Saint Felix Street as well as overseeing staff training and development according to the standards and guidelines as well as this organization’s guiding principles. You will communicate with staff, enrolled families, and leadership to ensure a cohesive and connected community at all times.
  • Coordinator of Programs: You will work closely with corporate leadership on the development and implementation of programs housed at 36 St. Felix St. that supports the mission of the company. You will ensure that all programs are properly staffed according to budgetary guidelines and proper practices based on local/national regulations and company principles. You will oversee responsible fiscal management of these programs by ensuring program expenses are within budget as well as ensuring staff schedules, PTO/Sick leave counts, and employee timecards are correctly maintained according to offer letters, program needs, and actual working hours.
  • Meal & Supply Coordinator: You will be responsible for the successful implementation of meal plans and/or procurement of all meal supplies and snacks provided in programs housed at 36 Saint Felix Street. This responsibility’s tasks include but are not necessarily limited to the following: ensuring the adherence to menus, ordering groceries/food deliveries, and organizing and maintaining inventory for the food for the programs. When unable to perform these or other related tasks, you will be responsible for scheduling/overseeing the implementation of these tasks being completed by another person. You will ensure that the kitchen/food prep & storage spaces are managed according to the standards set by DOH and will maintain NY state food safety certification.
  • Staff Hiring, Scheduling, & DOH Oversight: You will work closely with corporate leadership on the hiring of necessary staff members for running successful programs. You will maintain up-to-date staff and child files according to DOH regulations and company policies. You will be responsible for ensuring all staff members are properly trained to perform their job duties according to DOH Regulations, NAEYC Standards as applicable, and company policies. You will routinely observe staff in their roles and provide feedback for their professional development. You will work closely with corporate leadership to review staff performance and feedback to develop plans for improvement, understand training needs, and make plans for future job positioning.
  • Building Management: You will work closely with corporate leadership to maintain the building according to DOH regulations and best practices. This responsibility’s tasks include but are not necessarily limited to the following: managing communication with recurring contractors (such as cleaners, pest control, etc), communicating needs for repairs/special contractors, ensuring the building is being maintained safely and sustainably, and ensuring all staff members are trained and performing duties accordingly.
  • Community & Culture: You will work to ensure that our space is welcoming and inviting at all times including a well-maintained entrance, inviting scents and music, a well-organized and inviting office space, and properly stocked staff refreshments as budgeted. You will work to ensure that there is signage, posters, bulletin boards, and art adorning the walls that supports the vision of our community and a reflection of our values at all times.
  • Staff/Classroom Coverage: Until further notice, you will be responsible for subbing in classrooms/programs when preschool staff members utilize PTO, i.e. absences that have been pre-approved and pre-arranged so that you will have enough time to make adjustments needed for your other job duties to be properly completed.
