Job Summary

We are searching for a Senior Tax Analyst -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will be responsible for preparing and filing federal, state, and local jurisdictional tax returns; providing ongoing support for all related tax reporting issues; leading junior tax analysts and providing support to ensure TCH tax projects are completed accurately and timely; coordinating with other departments to gather proper documentation for tax return support and audit trail; communicating strategic tax planning opportunities to upper management; performing research analysis; assisting with

tax audit defense, including but not limited to interpreting tax statutes and regulations and establishing written tax positions, providing tax advice and recommendations to management and other departments within TCH.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all tax returns are prepared and filed following regulatory deadlines. Prepare all non-profit federal (Form 990, Form 990T), state, and local tax returns and reports, including extensions and estimated tax payments for all TCH entities. Create and maintain auditable work papers to support completed and filed federal, state, and local tax returns. Train and assist tax analysts as needed in preparing assigned tax returns and related schedules.
• Research and respond to tax inquiries posed by all sources. Research all tax return inquiries or issues within TCH, third-party consultants, and internal sources at TCH and review findings with Tax manager. Gather and analyze all data and documentation necessary to prepare the TCH relevant tax returns and other reporting requirements. Work with tax manager in responding to management, executives, and other TCH staff regarding the appropriate accounting treatment of tax reporting and compliance-related financial activities.
• Monitor tax legislation, analyze, and determine applicable tax reporting and compliance needs. Monitor and identify existing and potential tax exposure, liabilities, and tax saving opportunities and provide recommendations and assist management in the decision-making process. Research and analyze partnership K-1s and determine foreign tax filings (926, 5471, 8865) and unrelated business reportable income. Review and analyze revenue-generating activity and provide TCH tax provisions and determination of revenue reporting ASC 740/FIN48 annual review. Develop and maintain desk procedures for new and existing workflow processes.
• Work with the Tax team and other departments to ensure accurate and timely proper tax compliance. Assist management in the review of tax analyst work to ensure accuracy and timely completion. Review all tax filings prepared by tax analysts for accuracy and proper documentation. Oversee tax and special projects to ensure department goals are being met.

Qualifications

• Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
• Required Bachelor's Degree in accounting or general business
• Required 5 years of related experience. Preferred supervisory experience
• A Master’s degree will substitute for two (2) years of work experience.
• CPA preferred
