The opportunity

As Associate Director of SEO, you will be responsible for leading a group of experienced and passionate SEO professionals that help provide guidance to a team of 150 editorial experts across 20 websites in our portfolio. This role will allow you to collaborate, learn, and challenge yourself and your team every day by staying abreast of the latest SEO and publishing industry trends. The primary function of this role is to own the strategy, operations, and resourcing of the SEO team, focusing on growing traffic to our portfolio of websites by delivering the best answers. You will be working closely with and reporting to the Director of Audience Marketing.

What you'll do

  • Executing on the SEO strategy for the company, focused on growing traffic to our content by always putting the reader first
  • Managing a team of SEO analysts and managers and providing consistent feedback to help team members learn and grow into A-players
  • Collaborating with the editorial and monetization teams to adapt and implement new/improved SEO strategies to continue growing traffic
  • Driving strategy for our onpage, offpage, and technical SEO and working with the team to continue to improve in each of these areas without sacrificing the best answer
  • Working with email marketing to grow our email acquisition and engagement as a means of growing our traffic
  • Working with social media team to grow our social media presence as a means of growing our traffic
  • Ensuring SEO best practices are met across the company
  • Working with the other legs of the stool to ensure our strategies and standards are aligned and shared across different topic teams and departments
  • Ensure the larger team is up to date on SEO/digital marketing trends/Google algorithm changes and adapting our strategy to stay ahead of the competition
  • Understanding needs of the business to define roles and responsibilities for the team
  • Clear, consistent communication with Director of Audience Marketing on team growth and progress
  • Working closely with Director of Audience Marketing and other legs of the stool to understand the overall needs of the business
  • Using data and analytics around traffic and rankings to help make resourcing decisions for the team and department

Who you are

  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing a team
  • Minimum 4 years of SEO experience
  • Strong understanding and passion for all facets of SEO, in particular onpage and off-page SEO
  • Effectively create and execute on a marketing strategy to grow traffic to a website
  • Read and comprehend data, being able to communicate key findings from a report and make decision
  • Provide clear direction and feedback
  • Effective collaborator across teams and departments and are able to understand priorities of the business development and editorial teams
  • Open to feedback, and strive to learn something new every day
  • Passionate about delivering the best answers to people's questions

Salary Range
TechnologyAdvice seeks to hire top-tier individuals across the world and intends for our compensation to be at a rate that allows us to recruit and retain individuals who align with our core values, purpose, mission, and vision.
Final total compensation is based on a multitude of factors including, but not limited to, skill level, relevant experience to the position, and cost of labor.

Annual pay range

$110,000—$130,000 USD
