Office Assistant

Job Description

The Office Assistant is responsible for a variety of accounting duties including accounts payable, payroll functions, and bookkeeping support at the direction of the Controller. They will also assist in the orchards with audits, inventory, training and additional tasks at the direction of the orchard foreman.

Payroll / HR Support

  • Serve as backup to the HR Coordinator, handling a variety of Payroll & HR requests from internal & external customers and assisting with processing payroll, including distribution of checks and reports as well as filing documents.

Accounts Payable

  • Serve as backup to the Accounts Payable position, handling a variety of Accounts Payable duties.

Orchard Tasks

  • Assist in record organization for annual audits (Organic, SQF and spray records)
  • Maintain spray records in the Aprecs online database.
  • Assist with all aspects of HR onboarding and compliance.
  • Weekly payroll hour and job reconciliation using Picktrac.

Other Duties

  • Answer a multi-line phone system and operate various office machines.
  • Assist with special projects and provide general support as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience working with accounts payable and payroll.
  • Experience may be waived with recent Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Strong accounting background with demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and reporting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), HR and payroll laws as well as agriculture.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures and financial chart of accounts.
  • Solid proficency with MS Office software, particularly in Excel, Word & Teams.
  • Demonstrated high degree of integrity, honesty, and respect for confidential information.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, as needed, with limited supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) required.
  • Driver's License required.
  • 10-key by touch.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
