HISTORY
: When four restaurant entrepreneurs started Tastes on the Fly in 1999, they had a singular focus; bring travelers a high-quality taste of place by executing with the same passion as the original restaurant locations from the community. Since its inaugural opening at San Francisco International Airport in 2000, Tastes on the Fly has grown into one of the largest boutique airport dining operators. Job Description


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
:

These are essential functions and the percentages are estimates only.

70% - Remain on floor serving guests and bussing and setting tables in your designated section

10% - Complete opening and closing side work. Maintain dining room organization, cleanliness and the availability of service related goods

15% - Properly process guest checks and cash handling procedures

5% -Assist host with greeting guests and answering phone

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY:

  • Knowledge of table settings and service ware
  • Ability to understand verbal English, i.e. guest requests and questions
  • Ability to write and read English
  • Ability to greet and seat customers
  • Ability to handle guests’ requests
  • Ability to answer the phone in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of basic food service
  • Ability to use a POS system
  • Ability to handle, count and balance cash receipts
  • Ability to maintain a “bank” for making change and collecting cash payments
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multitask


SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
:

  • In addition to performing the essential functions, this position may be required to perform any combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function solely at the discretion of the department manager, which may be based upon the particular requirements of that day.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard, approved cleaning products as assigned by the manager.
  • Folding napkins for other meal periods to maintain adequate supplies.
  • Perform any and all other duties asked of you related to the operation of the restaurant. Managers will not ask you to perform functions inappropriate to your job capacity. Should you feel you are asked to something inappropriate, you should speak with your general manager. Rule of thumb is to always follow the directives of the manager on duty.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • 1 year prior server experience in a fast paced – full service
  • Any combination of education, training and work experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Willing to participate in a 10-year criminal background check conducted by the FBI.
  • Successfully pass computerized employment testing and in-person interview.
