Job Duties:

In this role, you are the guide to each guest as they walk through the doors and embark on a mouth party at Noble Riot. Assist in turning guests on to new varietals, drinking outside their box, and learning a little more about honest wine along the way.

Other duties might include all the details that go into the seamless delivery of the guest experience. These include, but aren't limited to:

• Greeting guests, explaining menus, and assisting in the ordering process.
• Attending to guest needs throughout their dining experience including food recommendations, delivery, clearing, watering, resetting, presenting their checks, and wishing them a warm departure.
• Maintaining cleanliness standards in order to have a clean, presentable and attractive facility and to satisfy state and local health board requirements.
• Memorizing and understanding menu items, recipes, and daily specials in order to answer questions and make recommendations to customers.
• Maintaining and resetting service stations (stemware, sani buckets, china, silver, ticket tape, etc)
• Having knowledge of the by-the-glass wine list and current culinary menu.
• Attending any/all pre-meal and departmental meetings in person in order to enhance communications and gain knowledge of products, service, and facility.
• Responding to customer inquiries and comments in person and providing timely and knowledgeable information in order to provide quality customer service.
• Presenting a clean and professional appearance at all times.
• Maintaining a professional, fun, and courteous demeanor at all times.
• All staff are required to learn and hold down the culinary position, which includes prep and food/build-a-board compiling. Additional pay comes along with holding down that role.
• Performing other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management. (In other words, as a team player, you might be asked to pitch in for things we haven't even imagined yet and so we couldn't include them on this list).
• During the course of your shift, if a ball is dropping, your job is to catch it.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of wine varietals, regions, and tasting notes.
• Must have a great attitude and high regard for upholding service standards.
• Must have high attention to detail and the ability to follow specific standards and procedures with consistency.
• Must be fluent in oral and written English.
• Must have vision ability to clearly see detailed guest checks, computer print-outs, and written instructions and to observe the entire restaurant in dimly lit conditions.
• Must have manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items in hand, and to balance and carry trays loaded with food and beverages.
• Must have manual dexterity necessary for polishing multiple glasses for long periods of time.
• Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks at one time.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to perform job duties in crowded and noisy situations, particularly when handling multiple tasks.
• Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Not required, but nice to have:

• Must have passed Level I Intro Sommelier Certification with the CMS, AND/OR WSET levels 1 & 2, AND/OR Noble Riot Introductory Wine Course Work. Our Somms must have CMS Certified, or equivalent as determined by management.
• Previous experience in fine dining service teams
• Appreciation for agriculture, nature, and sustainability
• Strong desire for learning and personal growth

Training Path

At Noble Riot, it's important to us that all members of the team can pitch in anywhere anytime. Regardless of your qualifications when you start, you'll learn the support roles first, graduate into the server role, and eventually graduate into a somm role. Our somms still polish glasses and bus tables alongside all the other teammates, so be prepared to be part of a small but mighty team.

Materials/Equipment Used

Computerized order machine, touch screens, basic writing materials, and restaurant equipment including but not limited to wine openers, ice machines, beverage dispensers, and dishwashing machines.

Environment

Physically strenuous: prolonged standing, walking, lifting and carrying throughout the entire shift in an indoor (and partially outdoor) environment. High noise levels, fast-paced, fun, and rewarding.
