Job Details
We are seeking career-minded and talented back of house staff including but not limited to all line cooks, pastry cooks, sushi chefs, and sous chefs to join our main and sushi kitchen for evening service which
serves our main dining room and lounge.
Taru is a new and modern Japanese restaurant located next to the Baccarat Hotel and across the street from the Museum of Modern Art. Nestled behind the dining room is an intimate 10-seat omakase room that is currently in development to provide a unique sushi dining experience to our guests.
Position details:
35-40 hour work week
Tuesday - Saturday operation
Dinner service hours are 5pm - closing and evening shift begins at 3pm
Hourly compensation negotiable depending upon experience
Position requirements:
Availabilty for full time work week
New York restaurant experience preferred but not required
Japanese restaurant experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of basic Japanese cuisine preferred but not required
Candidate expectations:PunctualityPays careful attention to detail
Has a sense of urgency and strong communication skills
Ability to work cleanly & efficiently at all times
Ability to take direction from BoH and FoH managers
WIllingness to execute on multiple cold and hot stations
Maintain proper food handling and food safety guidelines
