TITLE: Engineer II, Combustion Turbine Engineer, Progression
PERFORMANCE COACH: Supervisor, Mechanical Reliability
COMPANY: Tampa Electric
DEPARTMENT: ES/ED Asset Management

This role can be hired at different levels within the job family as a multi-role progression position, based on number of years experience and Education

Concept: The Combustion Turbine Engineer directs the development of a standardized fleet Maintenance Strategies for all combustion turbine assets and associated mechanical system assets (rotating equipment, heat exchangers, material transfer/conveying/piping, cooling systems, etc.).

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Establish a continuous collaborative reliability management process for combustion turbine systems which involves the development of mechanical system Asset Criticality, failure mechanism Monitoring Plan, Health Indicators/Policy, Asset Risk Dashboard and Recommendation Management. (25%)
2. Develop and facilitate coordinated implementation of a fleetwide predictive monitoring program which supports our Asset Class Monitoring plans. Drive the continuous improvement and optimization in the effectiveness and cost of the monitoring plans thru replacement of time-based maintenance with predictive maintenance and the use innovative monitoring technologies. (25%)
3. Facilitates the development and management of Recommendations for improvement of mechanical asset Maintenance Strategy, e.g. capital projects, outages, operational limitations, monitoring and analysis of asset condition (non-destructive and other inspection and sampling) and prioritize work planning and scheduling. (20%)
4. Ensure the documentation and management of mechanical system data including management of design documents, computer models, equipment inventories, equipment monitoring, inspection and maintenance data and other data associated with mechanical system Maintenance Strategy. (15%)
5. Collaboratively develop, maintain and audit standards, Quality Processes, and procedures associated with combustion turbine assets and associated mechanical system assets. (10%)
6. Development and communication of a statement of health and risk for equipment and associated Recommendations supporting the continuous collaborative reliability management process for mechanical systems. (5%)
7. Facilitate root cause analysis, tracking of reliability metrics for mechanical system assets, management of change including the evaluation of changes to mechanical systems, benchmarking and the tracking of functional performance and condition of mechanical systems. (5%)
8. Facilitate the development, implementation and use of operational and information systems to support the mechanical system reliability process. (5%)
SUPERVISION
Indirect Supervision: Engineers, consultants, project, and reliability teams

RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: ES and ED team members including Vice Presidents, directors, managers, engineers, technicians
Key External: Regulators, consultants, contractors, industry associations, OEMs, vendors

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited or mutually recognized program

Licenses/Certifications
Preferred: Mechanical or mechanical related engineering degree, Florida Professional Engineer's License
Experience
Related Experience
Required: Minimum of 6 years of work experience in mechanical system design, implementation, operation, and maintenance.
Preferred: Minimum of 5 years of work experience with combustion and steam turbine operation and maintenance

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required: Working knowledge of mechanical system design, operation, and maintenance. This position requires a strong understanding of power generation principals, work practices and associated materials. In addition, this position requires the ability to organize, lead and resolve technical and process problems. The ability to effectively lead and motivate individuals to meet organization goals and personal development needs is required. Good project management skills, time management skills and communication skills are required.

Preferred: Working knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices, continuous improvement practices

WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to work in a powerplant and energy delivery environments for extended periods of time. Must be able to work irregular hours, overtime, and possible holidays.
