Talent One Services is Hiring a Nursing Supervisor Near Ottumwa, IA

 The Nursing/House Supervisor oversees nursing personnel management by leading, coaching, facilitating, and providing counsel and direction. This role ensures staff support on a daily basis through visibility, accessibility, and active engagement.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Actively participating in QA/PI projects to meet regulatory compliance.
  • Following ORHC infection control policies and procedures at all times.
  • Serving as an example to staff by adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Actively participating in the development and accomplishment of hospital regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitating the scheduling process and adjusting schedules to meet the hospital’s needs.
  • Providing fair and consistent leadership to all departments.
  • Conveying QI, risk, and safety concerns to the department director and quality department.
  • Completing variance reports or statements of concern appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Participating in Individualized Patient Care by ensuring whiteboards and other patient satisfaction criteria are used.
  • Notifying staff of emergency call-in situations.
  • Operating within established hospital procedures in emergencies, including using the hospital’s emergency plan, HICs, and NIMS when appropriate.
  • Notifying the Administrator on call of any areas where hospital policies and procedures cannot be followed, or of any unusual events.
  • Communicating clearly and positively with coworkers to promote teamwork.
  • Ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Acting as a resource to solve problems.
  • Acting as an ambassador for Ottumwa Regional Health Center by demonstrating compassion, integrity, and excellence.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, hospital policies, and technical procedures.
  • Rapid problem-solving ability and the capacity to deal with a variety of variables and set priorities.
  • Ability to analyze data from various sources and choose appropriate interventions to maximize positive patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrating positive, supportive behavior to healthcare team members, patients, and families through effective communication, calm demeanor, and professional conduct.

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing with 2-3 years of management experience is the minimum requirement. Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two to three years of previous management experience is preferred, with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:

  • Current Iowa Registered Nurse License.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Current NRP certification within 6 months of hire.
