JobDescription

GENERALSUMMARY OF DUTIES The Nursing / House Supervisor is responsible foroverseeing the management of nursing personnel.

This isaccomplished through leading coaching facilitating and assisting byproviding counsel and direction. The Nursing / House Supervisor isvisible accessible and actively engaged in supporting staff on adaily basis.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUTARE NOT LIMITEDTO

  • Activelyparticipate in QA / PI projects to meet regulatorycompliance.
  • Follow ORHC infection controlpolicies and procedures at all times
  • Serve asan example to staff by using hospital policies andprocedures.
  • Participating actively in thedevelopment and accomplishment of hospital regulatorycompliance.
  • Follow ORHC and unitspecificpolicies and procedures.
  • Facilitate thescheduling process and adjust the schedule to meet hospitalneeds
  • Providing fair and consistent leadershipto all departments
  • Convey QI risk and safetyconcerns to the Director of the department and qualitydepartment.
  • Complete variance reports orstatements of concern appropriately and in a timelymanner.
  • Notify staffof emergency calls in situations
  • Operate withinthe designs of established hospital procedures in emergenciesincluding using the hospital emergency plan HICs and NIMS whenappropriate
  • Notify the Administrator on call ofany area you do not feel you can handle from following hospitalpolicies and procedures or with any unusualevents.
  • Communicate clearly and positively withcoworkers. Promote TEAMWORK.
  • Ensure patientprivacy and confidentiality
  • Act as a resourceto solve problems.
  • Act as an ambassador for thehealth center by speaking positively in the presence of ourpatients and members of ourcommunity.
  • Represent Ottumwa Regional HealthCenter by demonstrating compassion integrity andexcellence.
  • Other duties asassigned.

KNOWLEDGESKILLS &ABILITIES

  • Must haveexcellent interpersonal skills including the ability to effectivelypresent information and respond to questions from colleagues andthe general public both in person and on thetelephone.
  • Must have the ability to readanalyze and interpret professional journals hospital policies andtechnical procedures.
  • Must have the ability torapidly problem solve and deal with a variety of variables and setpriorities as well as the ability to analyze data from a variety ofsources and choose consistently appropriate interventions tomaximize positive patient outcomes.
  • Mustdemonstrate positive supportive behavior to members of thehealthcare team patients and families through effectivecommunication calm appearance and professionalbehavior.

EDUCATION

  • Graduatefrom an accredited school of nursing.
  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing with 23years management experience is a minimum requirement. Bachelor ofScience in Nursing degreepreferred.
